Starlink · Costa Rica hotels

Starlink for hotels in Costa Rica, installed as a link the property can count on.

Maple Connection installs, documents, and then monitors Starlink at small hotels, lodges, and vacation rentals near Tamarindo, Nosara, Sámara, and Playas del Coco, roughly within two hours of Liberia. As the primary link where fiber does not reach, or as the backup behind fiber or Liberty.

Primary or backup

Two jobs Starlink does at a property.

Which one it gets depends on what reaches the building.

01

Primary where fiber does not reach

Starlink needs a clear view of the sky, and it is sold in Costa Rica, so a lodge or villa past the end of the fiber can still run on a real connection. There it is the primary link.

02

Backup behind fiber or Liberty

Where fiber or Liberty reaches the property, we plan Starlink as the backup link. When the primary line is cut, the gateway switches over by itself and returns to the primary when it recovers.

03

Decided on the site walk

Which of the two fits comes from walking the property: what reaches it, and what depends on the network. Check-in, door locks, and cameras all do.

What a managed install adds

A dish on the roof is not yet a link the property can rely on.

The dish is the easy part. Five things around it are the job.

  1. 01

    Mount and power

The dish goes where it has open sky and a safe cable run. The core equipment gets battery backup, so a power cut does not take the link down with it.

  2. 02

Failover that switches on its own

The gateway is set so traffic moves to or from Starlink automatically, and returns to the primary when it recovers. Nobody walks to the rack at check-in time.

  3. 03

    Guests kept apart from operations

Guests, staff, and cameras each sit on their own network, so a guest streaming on the lounger never reaches the booking laptop.

  4. 04

    Monitoring that sees the drop

We monitor the links from our side, on a regular schedule, and get an alert when one drops.

  5. 05

    Documentation that stays with you

The dish position, cable run, equipment, and credentials are written down and handed back to you on request. If you stop working with us, you keep the documented environment.

The rainy season is the real test.

Starlink publishes the dish as IP67 weather-rated (spec sheet). We still check the sky from the mounting point during the survey, so the plan allows for the growth the rains bring.

One of six systems, run as one job.

Site connectivity is the system the other five depend on.

Site connectivity is one of the six systems we install and manage, with network and voice, cameras, Wi-Fi, access, and automation and sensors. Locks, cameras, and door access that run over the network need the link to stay up, so it is planned with the rest, and one team answers for all of it.

How support works after the install.

Remote first, on site when it matters.

We monitor the link remotely and fix most of what breaks remotely. When hands are needed, a local Guanacaste crew goes on site. A monthly report shows what was watched, and one team owns every problem.

Questions

What owners ask first.

Can Starlink be our only link?

Where fiber does not reach, yes: it is the primary link. Where fiber or Liberty reaches the property, we plan Starlink as the backup, so one cut line does not take the property offline.

We already have fiber. Why add Starlink?

Fiber in Guanacaste is good when it is up and no help at all when it is not. A second path on a different route means check-in, locks, and cameras keep working when the first one drops.

What happens after I get in touch?

You answer a few questions about the property. We reply within one business day. The work itself starts with a walk of the site, and the monthly figure comes with the plan.

Where do you work?

Permanent operations in Guanacaste. Reach extends into the Arenal foothills, northern Puntarenas, and the southern Nicoya peninsula as far as Sámara and Nosara, roughly within two hours of Liberia. That covers Tamarindo, Nosara, Sámara, and Playas del Coco.

What it costs.

Prices start from the plans below; the exact monthly figure comes with the plan after the site walk.
